About the Canberra School of Photography

Irene Lorbergs established the Canberra School of Photography in 1992.

Our philosophy is to demystify the technical aspect of photography (cutting through the jargon) to make complicated ideas simple.
Our courses are designed to provide rapid learning of practical skills with an emphasis on the application of photographic theory and techniques. This application of skills allows students to learn in a very short period of time what others would take months to teach. Our program involves lectures, demonstrations, practical work, home work, assignments, feedback, group discussions, field trips and guest lecturers We’ve been providing digital photography training since digital cameras became popular.

  Individual Attention

We aim to immediately enhance our students abilities, confidence and creativity. Classes are conducted in small groups in order to give individual attention so that each students strengths can be developed and  any problem areas  addressed and overcome quickly.

  Easy to learn

The students who have completed our courses to date (ranging from beginners to experienced photographers) have been extremely pleased with the content, style and practical results of the programme. They have been generally surprised by how easily they were able to understand and apply technical concepts which they had previously found difficult.  We are a leader in digital photography training.
